NMSP District 9 — Clovis

District Nine is situated on the east side of the state covering areas in both the southeast and northeast sections. We serve the counties of Curry, De Baca, Guadalupe, Quay, Roosevelt and parts of Torrance, Harding and San Miguel. A visitor to our area can expect to see everything from the high plains and agricultural areas surrounding Clovis and Portales to the rugged terrain around Conchas Lake.Clovis, a city of 32,000, is home to Cannon Air Force Base. Clovis has one of the fastest growing dairy populations in the state.

Portales, known for it’s peanuts, is a town of 12,000 people and is host to Eastern New Mexico University, the only 4-year public institution on the east side of the state.

Tucumcari, a town of 6,000, is situated on Interstate 40 and is known for its place in history on Old Historic Route 66.

Santa Rosa, “The City of Natural Lakes”, is a community of 2,200 people. You will find the best scuba diving in the state at the Santa Rosa Blue Hole, a mecca for divers in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado.

Ft. Sumner is a community of 1,300 people. The gravesite of the outlaw “Billy the Kid” is just outside of town. The community hosts “Old Fort Days” the second weekend in June each year. We also are home to three lakes suitable for summer recreation including Ft. Sumner Lake, Ute Lake and Conchas Lake.
